SETI@home shuttered
I know there are a lot of people who are probably pretty bummed that last week SETI@home shut down. I’m going to try not to rub salt in any wounds, but I am compelled mention that there exists a few really great, realistically philanthropic distributed computing projects to which you can donate your cycles. I mean, I’m all for searching for signs of ET intelligence, don’t get me wrong, but it seems like there’s a slightly more immediate imperative to cure cancer or AIDS instead of scanning radio signals. Eh, maybe it’s just me.
