WordPress 2.3 and beyond
I certainly do like WordPress quite a bit (and use it to run this site), so I was stoked to hear Matt Mullenweg talk at Pixelodeon about what’s to come for the platform. In WordPress 2.3, due in about three months (they’re on a four month release cycle now), the WP gang is adding tagging (yes!), plugin updating (yes!), and even a yet-unannounced BlackBerry app for blogging on your portable. (Still no non-hosted general mobile interface though.) Matt also says they’re evaluating automated installed-Wordpress upgrades (what I really want), better installed-Wordpress integration with the new Automattic stats plugin, fixing up the image system (ditto), and, of course, improving support for video. All sounds gravy to me!

If all of that makes it into WP 2.3 I will be impressed (and very happy) – ESPECIALLY the plugin updating – which can be a royal mess! Updating WP is a lot easier than tracking multiple plugins!

it was also awesome to hear him talk about akismet. i think thats such a key to everything they do – keeping that rock solid.
