Thanks for what is certainly the most comprehensive review of the iPhone yet! Having used it also since Friday, I found myself nodding in agreement quite a bit with most of your points, and as someone who, despite the device’s many shortcomings, is happy with his purchase, I appreciated your final paragraphs.

very well written and complete. No one who reads this would accuse you of being an apple fanboy.

I notice that engadget continues to use the ‘we’ article when discussing personal experiences. I understand why, but it must be difficult to write! I noticed ben heck in particular had problems with this (wii laptop, xbox360 laptop).

Diego — I don’t know what it is with Gruber, I think he must feel like he’s speaking truth to power or something. For some reason he loves to try and goad us. Insecurity complex?

Jeff — I was using an HTC TyTn / Hermes (8525 in the US), but I think I’ll give the iPhone a go. Email app sucks and no 3G, but I’m getting used to the keyboard, so we’ll see!
