I prefer Engadget because they don't use off-color language and humor as much as that other site. And they seem to get more scoops.

Thanks for the response, Ryan. No, I guess you didn't tout them loudly. It's just that after a bit they started to sound to good to be true. We shall see.

"minutes ahead" ...so what? The authors of the posts on Engadget are funnier, more entraining to read. That's all that matters.

10:10am - Steve's grooving to R-E-S-P-E-C-T on stage. "There we go, that's what I want, and I'm going to just buy this ringtone right now." The clip appears in the ringtones folder along with other clips of music Steve didn't mind buying twice.

10:11am - Gonna Make You Sweat by C+C Music Factory? Damn Steve.

Kind of off topic, but ok, I'll bite. I didn't tout them loudly, I merely confirmed their solution was real -- pretty straight forward. It's not my responsibility to ensure they see their product through though! We've definitely been covering developments as they happen here.

So Ryan, where are the iPhoneSIMfree crowd? You touted them loudly when they gave you a private demo. Day by day they are seeming dodgier and dodgier. Not as kosher as they first seemed?

I think Jacquie Cheng at arstechnica beat both engadget and gizmodo in speed and quality. All three were pretty darn quick, though. I was disappointed in macrumors via twitter - it seemed sluggish. In any case, kudos to all, and I hope both you and giz are making lots of moolah.

Yeah Joe, that's actually the technique we encourage since almost all browsers do that (Firefox, Safari, Opera, IE, etc.). Still, there are things we can improve!

You know, in Safari, when you refresh a page, it automatically loads to the previous locaion. From there, it's a quick space bar or two finger flick to the new info that's just a few lines below. I'm pretty sure most browsers have a way of doing something like this now. There's the inelegant but useful page end/shift space up as well. I'm sure many ways.

So the question I have is not how can engadget change, but how can they create a fun "Using the web 101" class ! ! ! Perhaps a video even :)

That's the method we've always used. Not ideal, but it's the only way you can read it like a normal person -- top to bottom. We're working on improving our system, though.

Actually, Gizmodo was often minutes ahead of Engadget, but the photos took a lot longer to show up.

I did however find Engadgets updates more useful. Gizmodo tended to be one sentences, Engadets where whole paragraphs and gave me more of a sense of being there (A real achievement seeing as I'm in Australia).

But Mr Block, what where you thinking when placing the updates at the bottom of the page? I know it makes sense to make a single post in linear order, but it was an absolute nightmare to scroll down to find the latest information, especially when things started to slow down and the images took longer than usual to load, then when to did load, they pushed the text further down the page making me loose my place all over again. The frustration!
