W00t is word of the year
Fine, whatever, Merriam-Webster disappoints with the same kind of linkbaiting as Time Magazine naming YOU (read: us) as person of the year. But there’s only one take I want on “w00t” being word of the year: that of woot.com. Unfortunately, it’s a decidedly mute response.
I'm an editor and technology critic in the midst of founding a new web startup:

“WOOT”? Could you come up with anything more stupid to say? It is not even a word. It was started by the black culture in the united states. And then it spread like a disease. IT MEANS NOTHING!! Like “PHAT”. IT is what some “less than educated” people say when you have nothing intellectual to say. There are a lot of “less than educated” people in the world today!
