Ha, could be! Then again, I’ve been subject of a few profiles, too. Veronica’s still far more interesting, though, if you ask me.
Ryan, you are both interesting people and I will give you my own unsolicited insight into where I think the appeal lies. Unlike so many who become “public figures” through “traditional” media channels, you both come across as simply smarter/wittier/savvier versions of ourselves. Same interests, hobbies, attitude, etc. We feel comfortable with someone who is “me+1″. The “internet superstar” (for want . . .) is also more accessible (you are reading this, for example), and engaged in community of which they are leaders. Yes, maybe that is it. You are more like community leaders (of the fattish end of the long tail) than detached personalities.
As a result, I would much rather listen to you and Veronica, Tom and Molly, Kevin, Patrick, Leo, Dvorak, et al, than some talking head I know nothing about.
